Now’s a Good Time to Update Your Gmail App for iPhone

Google released an update to its mobile Gmail iOS app Wednesday that all Gmail users will want to download. The refreshed version automatically loads your messages as they come through your inbox and simplifies sign-in across all Google apps.

So, when you receive a push notification about a new message, you can tap right through it. No more desperately waiting for the text to load before you lose your service on the train.

To use the feature, you’ll need to be running iOS 7 on your phone. You’ll also have to turn on badge, banner or push notification for the Gmail app. To do that, go to Settings → Notification Center → Gmail and choose which type of alert you’d like to enable.

The update also includes a universal Google sign-in. Meaning that when you sign into Gmail, you’re automatically given access to your user information in the Maps, Drive and Chrome apps as well. Huge time saver. The updated app is available in iTunes right here
