Nintendo updates gamers on a purrrr-fect cozy title – ‘Little Kitty, Big City’

GHENT, WV (WVNS) — Most of the time people think of gamers as people who play first-person shooters or platforming games that force you to calculate your moves while avoiding obstacles, but there are also gamers who enjoy what are known as “cozy games.”

That’s just what Little Kitty, Big City is – a cute and cozy game about a curious cat exploring its surroundings.

During the Indie World Showcase on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Matt Wood, director and lead developer of the title, stated that the idea for the game originated when he was teaching his children to code. Though the game has changed a lot since then, the original idea has stayed the same.

The presentation of the game states that the game starts with a kitty, the protagonist and who the gamer will be playing as, falling from their favorite napping spot and becoming lost.

The main goal of the game is navigating the city to find your way home, but, as stated by Wood, the game is filled with distractions since the game is made by people who love distractions. Distractions are not always a bad thing in games though! Sometimes a good distraction can lead to a gamer’s favorite moment in a title or even to some much beloved backstory.

For those who need more of a goal, there are quests you can work on to help the city’s animals as you search for a way home. You can also get achievements during your gameplay. While some are wholesome (like an achievement for getting petted by a human), some will appeal more to us chaos gremlins in the world (like knocking things over and breaking things).

You can also customize your kitty and emote to express yourself as you adventure through the city.

Little Kitty, Big City will be available May 9, 2024 for Nintendo Switch.
