Assets4Kids goal is to alleviate child poverty, according to the release. Andrew was inspired to create the app after he witnessed child poverty during a mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

Andrew and hit teacher were invited to the Capital Building in Washington D.C. by Gaetz. He had the opportunity to showcase his app at the House of Code Reception on Friday, April 12, according to the release.

The challenge’s purpose is “to inspire, include, and innovate efforts around STEM, CODING, and Computer Science Education,” said the release. This is the fourth time a Niceville High School student has won.

“Our school district is fortunate to have talented students who continue to impress us. We are incredibly proud of Andrew’s outstanding achievement in developing a meaningful app to assist impoverished children. We are equally proud of his representation of our district and Career Technical Education at a national level,”
said Superintendent Marcus Chambers.
