Netflix, Apple TV, and Peacock Are Teaming Up to Offer a Combo Streaming Service
Last week, Disney and Warner Bros. announced that they would be teaming up to offer a streaming service bundle including Disney+, Hulu, and Max. Not to be outdone by the competition, though, Comcast is hitting back with a bundle of its own.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts announced the bundle during the MoffettNathanson Media, Internet & Communications Conference. It’s set to include Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ into one combination service called StreamSaver, and will be offered at a “vastly reduced price.”
“We’ve been bundling video successfully and creatively for 60 years,” Roberts said. “And so this is the latest iteration of that, and I think this will be a pretty compelling package.”
No specific pricing information was announced, although Variety notes that in order to access StreamSaver, you’ll need to already be an Xfinity subscriber. It’s safe to say, too, that much like the Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle, this one probably won’t be available outside of the US.
It comes after a massive crackdown on password sharing from many of the major streamers, including Netflix and Disney+, which saw millions of password-sharing users across the streaming services prompted to sign up for their own account. Both Netflix and Disney+ also offer the option to add members outside of their household as additional viewers at an extra cost.
Disney has also started bundling its Disney+ and Hulu services, with each available as part of an upgraded, extra-cost subscription in the other. Keep in mind that this, too, only applies to the US — most other regions have Hulu content included in their Disney+ subscriptions by default.
