This music video’s beautiful underwater shots were filmed entirely with an iPhone 6s Plus

It just had to happen: A music video was shot with an iPhone 6s. We can’t really be surprised by such an achievement, considering that older iPhones, featuring cameras less impressive than what’s available on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have already been used to record entire commercials and even movies.

What’s impressive about the clip, aside from the actual visuals, is the fact that a lot of the video is filled with beautiful underwater footage.

Neither the iPhone 6s nor the iPhone 6s Plus is actually waterproof – the latter was used for this particular video, even though they can withstand water damage better than any previous model. Obviously, there are plenty of cases that can offer waterproof protection, though it’s not clear what accessories were used for this music video.

Robert Koch’s Dark Waves video was published on YouTube on December 18th, having a simple description that reads: “Filmed on iPhone 6s Plus.”

The video soon got Philip Schiller’s attention, with the Apple exec posting an equally pithy message on Twitter.

“’Dark Waves’ shot on #iPhone6s,” he wrote, posting the YouTube link for the video.

Meanwhile, Apple revealed on 60 Minutes the kind of effort it puts into iPhone camera research and development, saying that the iPhone camera department has no less than 800 people working on improving one of the most used features of the iPhone.
