Mike Tyson Fights Mike Tyson in ‘Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!!’

Even Mike Tyson doesn’t want to fight Mike Tyson.

At least not the version of the former heavyweight champ who dominated gamers in the 1987 classic Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!! for the NES. The in-game Tyson was the final boss, and he was just a knockout nightmare. Beating Iron Mike was a rite of passage for gamers, but how would the real fighter fare against his pixelated doppelganger?

Leave it to nostalgia king Jimmy Fallon to get to the bottom of this pop-culture quandary.

During a visit to The Tonight Show, the ex-pugilist and current cartoon star accepted Jimmy’s challenge to go toe to toe with the video game Mike. Spoiler alert: It didn’t go so well.

Clearly Tyson learned little from last year’s battle against Punch Out!! pushover Glass Joe, though to be fair, that was the very first time he played the game.

Pro tip, Mike: Do what the rest of us did and use the passkey 007 373 5963 to skip the other fighters and warp right to you. Now spend a few months getting your butt kicked trying to time your punches. Also, dodge a little. Sheesh.
