Man Offers to Shoot Someone for 100 Retweets, Is Promptly Arrested
It all started when 20-year-old Los Angeles resident Dakkari Dijon McAnuff posted a photo with a rifle pointed at a Los Angeles street.
The caption read, “100 and I’ll shoot someone walking.”
McAnuff was referring to 100 retweets. But fortunately local police were notified before it came to that, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was promptly located and arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making criminal threats and remains in jail with a $50,000 bail.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were warned about the photo that was circulating on Twitter on Wednesday morning. They were able to track McAnuff’s location (via the service) to a home downtown, where they recovered the same air rifle that was featured in the photo (which is screen-capped from the retweet of a suspended account below).
McAnuff’s Twitter account, @StillDMC, has since been suspended, but you can see remaining mentions of his handle here. It appears his very NSFW Tumblr is still intact. There he describes himself as “1/2 Black. 1/2 Jamaican. Chicago Born. Houston Raised. Cali Livin.” The background of his site features an image of him pointing at a camera with a rifle.
In conclusion: The cops know how to use the Internet, too. So let’s all let up on the gun-related social media, shall we?
