SpaceX launches 1st of 2 planned Starlink missions

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — SpaceX launched the first of two planned Starlink missions early Friday.

A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 23 Starlink satellites lifted off at 5:12 a.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Hours later, the company plans to launch 21 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The launch is scheduled to happen at 10:31 p.m. ET, with a backup opportunity available at 2:25 a.m. Saturday.
