Lenovo’s Yoga Pro 2 was one of the best selling 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrids on the planet, thanks to its innovative design, strong performance, and gorgeous display. So for its follow-up, Lenovo is upping the ante.

This is the Yoga Pro 3, and it’s not only 17 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than its predecessor, but it’s also one of the best-looking 2-in-1 laptops I’ve ever seen.

Hinging on design
Lenovo’s Yoga laptops are known for their hinges that bend 360 degrees, letting you flip the notebook’s display around, transforming it from laptop to tablet mode, and the Yoga Pro 3 is no different.

This time around, though, Lenovo has improved the Yoga Pro 3’s design, giving it six hinges rather than the two found on the Yoga Pro 2, improving the Yoga Pro 3 both functionally and aesthetically.

With more hinges, the Pro 3’s display is far more secure and wobbles less than its predecessor’s. Lenovo has also designed the hinges to ape the look of a steel watchband, giving the 2-in-1 a more elegant style than your average notebook, especially with the Pro 3’s champagne paint job.

The enhanced hinges also allow you to open the Yoga Pro 3’s display 180 degrees and lay the 2-in-1 completely flat on a table, though, how useful such a position would be for most people is up for debate.

Retina who?
Beyond its improved hinges, the Yoga Pro 3 features a beautiful 13-inch, 3200 × 1800 resolution display. That’s much sharper than your average 1080p laptop display. In fact, the Pro 3’s screen is so sharp that it even blows away the MacBook Pro 13-inch’s Retina display. The average consumer, however, won’t notice the difference unless streaming 4K videos.

Inside, the top-of-the-line Yoga Pro 3 gets a quad-core Intel processor and 8 GB of RAM, which will provide more than enough power for your most demanding tasks. There’s also a 256 GB solid-state hard drive, which is far faster than the standard hard-disk drive found in older laptops.

A pair of JBL speakers in the bottom of the laptop should make for a solid listening experience, while the Yoga Pro 3’s estimated eight hours of battery life will let you rock out all day.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 hits the market this holiday season for $1,349. Will it be worth getting? Stay tuned for our review to find out.
