Leaked photos point to a second OLED screen on Apple’s next-gen MacBook Pro

Apple's MacBook Pro hasn't seen a compelling refresh in quite some time, but that's all about to change later this year. As we covered just last week, Apple later this fall is planning to release a completely revamped MacBook Pro outfitted with a Touch ID sensor and an OLED display panel located where the function keys usually reside.

Hot on the heels of that report, Cult of Mac recently obtained a series of photos which purport to confirm that Apple's next-gen MacBook Pro will in fact feature an OLED panel at the top of the keyboard. What's more, and some what curiously, the images also suggest that the notebook may sport as many as four USB-C inputs.

Note in the photo below, for example, how there are curiously no function keys in the top row.

"There are a bunch of reasons why adding an OLED touchpad to the MacBook Pro is a great idea," Cult of Mac notes, "the main one being the ability to customize those function keys to swap out shortcuts you don’t use for ones you will. You could also add shortcuts for specific apps."

Indeed, this is the same strategy Apple touted when it released the original iPhone with a 3.5-inch multitouch display.

Notably, the origins of this particular MacBook Pro rumor come from reputed analyst Ming Chi-Kuo who has a rather stellar record when it comes to accurately anticipating new products from Apple.
