LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Lansing Major Andy Schor is celebrating the city’s Leap into Clean Transportation, with an $8 million electric vehicle infrastructure investment.

The funding is a part of the bipartisan infrastructure law and supports the Michigan Capitol Area Regional E-V Charging Gateway Initiative. The goal is to dramatically expand the electric vehicle infrastructure in the region.

Officials say it will include more than 50 new E-V charging stations and they hope will help people feel more comfortable with E-V’s.

“Range anxiety is a real thing for drivers considering making the switch. What we find from people once they’ve decided on their own to choose to drive an electric car is that they’re resoundingly happy with it,” said David Kieve, EDF Action President.

“Most of the charging that happens in this country happens in people’s homes, but go driving around seeing charging stations. All over the place, downtown and throughout the Capital Region, that’s going to give drivers and commuters a lot of confidence that the choices that they make are sound.”
