KIPP New Orleans Schools robotics team advances to world championship
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The KIPP New Orleans Schools robotics team has advanced to a world championship competition.
According to a news release, the KNOS Robotics FRC team 9405 made its debut at the Bayou Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in Kenner, where it won the “prestigious” Rookie All-Star Award.

The release states the Rookie All-Star award “recognizes the rookie team that demonstrates a strong partnership effort and effectively implements the mission of FIRST®, which aims to inspire students to pursue science and technology.”
KIPP New Orleans Schools officials said the team includes students from Booker T. Washington High School and Frederick A. Douglass High School who are enrolled in the KIPP New Orleans STEM Hub.

They said the team competed at the Bayou Regional Qualifying Tournament and earned a wildcard spot in the FIRST Robotics World Championships.
The release states the team traveled to Houston to compete at the World Championships, where they “demonstrated their commitment to teamwork and their drive to excel in the world of robotics.”
