It's your Kern, it's MyKern: County launches service app

The county of Kern has unveiled a mobile app, named MyKern, to bring county services closer to your fingertips.

At the Tuesday morning Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting, county spokeswoman Ally Soper and communications coordinator Annamarie Oddo detailed the launch.

“This new resource is a pivotal step in supporting Kern County’s transparency and accessibility as a government agency,” Oddo said.

At no charge, the MyKern app allows users in the unincorporated neighborhoods of Kern to report non-emergency issues.

Users can submit requests for work orders, register to vote and access public documents, among other features. Users can also find phone numbers and emails for several departments, such as code enforcement and Calfresh.

An instructional video, narrated by Soper, detailed the steps to download the software onto your phone to become better apprised of “all things Kern County.”

“Notice illegal dumping, potholes, damaged road signs or problems in your local park?” Soper narrates. “It’s easy to report an issue in your unincorporated neighborhood.”

Oddo added that newly installed park signs throughout Kern will have QR codes whereby residents can download the app.
