For the last 21 years, my husband has been making me a French press of coffee every morning as a part of our daily ritual. For all of those years, he’s been using the same glass press we bought at a Starbucks in Brooklyn, but recently, we started using the new Yeti French press, and let me tell you why.

The 34-ounce Yeti Rambler 34-ounce French Press Coffee Maker does something our glass press never did — it keeps our coffee hot for hours. So if I want one cup of coffee before my 5 a.m. run and one after I’ve completed my miles, the coffee tastes just as piping hot and fresh as my first cup. There’s no need to bust out a pod, make a pot, or reheat in the microwave. It’s just ready to go, sitting on my counter. Genuinely wild.

The Yeti French press (or cafetière, if you’re literally anywhere but the U.S.), shares a lot of features with other Yeti goods in that it’s made of super rugged materials designed for the elements. In my case, that’s mostly in my house, or occasionally, the porch or fire escape. But hey, I have kids, so it’s basically the same thing as taking it out in a hurricane.

It’s made of 18/8 stainless steel, with a double-walled construction that keeps the hot in and the cold out. The top is pretty genius as well. The plunger is a standard coil, sieve, and plastic with a steel center, but the top is a screw-on top with a spout that makes the whole thing feel more secure and minimizes the cool air from getting to the coffee.

I get that $110 feels like a lot for a French press, but it’s ridiculously durable and well-made. After opening my press, I may or may not have dropped it down my steps because I was maybe holding too much mail, and you’d never know I ever dropped it. My original French press would’ve been toast. This one? Well, it just picked up a few dust bunnies and put a chip in the paint on my wall.

I should be more irritated about the chip, but I’ve been dying to paint that hallway a rich, dark brown color for about a year, so I’m taking it as a sign that since the Yeti French press coffee pot dinged the wall, I should paint it coffee-colored, as fate intended.
