I just saved $146 on an Amazon purchase without lifting a finger

Sometimes you come across a product that’s so simple and smart that you have to pause for a moment to wonder why it took so long for someone to think of it. Such is the case with Paribus, a delightfully clever service that you sign up for and then forget all about. In fact, the only time you’re reminded of the service is when an email hits your inbox letting you know that it just saved you money on a recent purchase.

The bottom line is this: If you shop online, Paribus will save you money… and the best part is that you won’t have to lift a finger.

Let’s rewind for a moment and quickly discuss what Paribus does.

After signing up on the company’s website and linking your email account, Paribus monitors your inbox for emails from Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and other popular retailers — visit this post for a full list. When it sees a receipt for a purchase from a supported retailer, it immediately goes to work and monitors the price of the item you bought.

Why? These stores all have policies that will refund you the difference when a product you purchase goes on sale within a certain time period after you buy it. The problem is you have to file a claim in order to recoup the difference, and who monitors prices after the fact?

That’s what make Paribus great. All of this happens in the background so you don’t ever have to worry about it, and Paribus charges a fee of 25% of any refunds you get. 25% might seem steep, but remember that this is found money you would have otherwise never received.

We’ve covered Paribus before here on BGR, but I felt compelled to bring it up again after a pair of emails hit my inbox earlier this week:

I had no idea the prices of these two pairs of jeans dropped after I ordered them, and I never would have known in the past. But now I not only know about the price drops, Paribus has submitted claims on my behalf and Amazon will refund me nearly $146.

Now, I can go back to completely forgetting that Paribus exists until the next time it saves me money.
