Have Siri Call the Person You’re Typing a Reply Email To

The team that originally wrote Siri (which was later bought by Apple) wound up leaving Apple a couple years ago. They’ve started a new company called Viv.

I recently interviewed them for a “CBS Sunday Morning” story, and I couldn’t resist: I said, “Are there any cool Siri tips that nobody’s stumbled onto?”

And they said yes. They showed me one that hasn’t been published or mentioned anywhere.

Here it is:

When you’re in the middle of typing out a reply email, and you realize it’d be faster to wrap this up by phone, you can just say, “Call her.” Or “Call him.”

So long as the email address you were in the middle of typing a reply email to has an associated phone number saved in your iPhone, Siri knows who you mean, and dials the number for you, right from the Mail app!
