This Is How Many Times We Unlock Our Phones Each Day (Hint: It’s A Lot)

The average iPhone user unlocks their phone a whopping 80 times a day, according to Apple.

Analyst Ben Bajarin heard the stat right from the horse’s mouth at an Apple conference on security last week.

On average, people access their phones once every 11 minutes and 15 seconds, according to the data. For many with more serious Snapchat and Twitter addictions, that number may be even higher.

The company also revealed that most people who have iPhones with fingerprint recognition - Touch ID - use it.

Touch ID lets you unlock your phone with nothing more than your finger, which you press to the home button on the front.

Only 11% of people with Touch ID devices have stuck with the old swipe the screen then enter a PIN number method of getting into their iPhones and iPads.

And why not, when it’s so darn safe and easy?

“It is difficult to objectively argue that logging in to our devices with Touch ID is not only faster, more natural, and more efficient than the old swipe to log in but it is also inherently more secure,” Bajarin explained.

And when you’re doing something 80 times a day, that’s a big deal.
