Along with Monday’s very sweet launch of the Nexus 9 tablet and release of the so-called Lollipop update for Android devices, Google also revealed a new treat to help you stay organized and on schedule.

In the latest version of its Calendar app for Android, Google has brought new features to all of your datebooks, including an auto-add function that will smartly pull in events it detects from your Gmail account, and a convenient Schedule view that shows a scrollable list of everything you have coming up.

The look of the app has also been brought up to date with Android’s new “Material” design look, first revealed with Android Lollipop.

In a blog about the update, Google explains that Calendar’s new “Events from Gmail” magic erases the need for copying and pasting over email information about things like flights, concerts, and hotel stays, and will even add updates to these events if and when new information is emailed to you. When inputting info into your schedule the old-fashioned way, however, the new Calendar now also pulls from personal Google account information and the Web to autocomplete things like setting birthdays or planning events at nearby places.

All of these new tricks look to save you painstaking steps and plenty of time — time that can be spent sitting back and marveling at how great the app looks, we say.

The new Calendar for Android is available now on Lollipop devices (if you’ve managed to get your hands on one), and will be coming to the Play store for devices running Android 4.1 or later in the coming weeks. A version for iOS, Google says, is in the works as well.
