Galaxy Note 6 will launch at least a month before the iPhone 7 Plus

The Galaxy Note 6 is going to be one of the hot smartphones of the second half of the year, hitting stores around the same time the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus arrive. However, Samsung will start selling its new Note at least a month ahead of the new iPhone 7 Plus phablet's launch, just like last year. A new leak tells us precisely when the Galaxy Note 6 will be released in the US, killing previous rumors that suggested the phone may be available as soon as July.

DON’T MISS: Leaked drawings are probably the iPhone 7's final design

The well-informed Evan Blass took to Twitter to say that Samsung’s upcoming phablet will be available to U.S. buyers in the week of August 15th. The Galaxy Note 5 was released on August 13th last year in North America, a full month before the iPhone 6s started selling. In 2014, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 took a beating in stores because it launched at the same time with the iPhone 6 series.

Blass has a great track record reporting leaks that detail unreleased mobile products, so it’s very likely that the Galaxy Note 6 will be available stateside come mid-August.

According to SamMobile, some of the “confirmed” features of the new phone include a USB Type-C port, IP68 water and dust resistance, a 4,000 mAh battery and a BlackBerry-inspired Samsung Focus suite of apps. The phone should sport top-of-the-line hardware as well since Samsung has really turned up the heat on its flagship phone designs over the past year, and it could come with a curved display version as well.
