First video review of Apple’s MacBook Pro with Touch Bar hits the web

In a curious turn of events, the French news site 01NetTV managed to get its hands on a MacBook Pro review unit, complete with Apple's newfangled Touch Bar. Typically, Apple doles out review units to select publications with embargoes that expire at the same time. So how did 01NetTV came to post a mini-review of Apple's refreshed notebook before anyone else? Well, I suppose that's a question for another day, but for now we can take a closer look at what appears to be the very first spotting of Apple's MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar out in the wild.

The review itself is far from an in-depth think piece. Indeed, it mostly consists of the reviewer walking us through many of the Touch Bar's features across a number of Apple's built-in apps. In the process, the reviewer concerns himself with trying to figure out if the Touch Bar is a gimmick or if it truly has the potential to be a real game-changer. Disappointingly, his conclusion is that more testing is needed before a substantive argument in either direction can be made.

Nonetheless, the video does provide us with some interesting new video footage of the MacBook Pro's new flagship feature. Of particular interest is how the OLED-based Touch Bar really seems to blend right into the keyboard itself. Far from looking like a disparate display, it all looks like one cohesive unit. The video also provides us with a closer view of how Apple's built-in Touch Bar controls look and feel while also showing us how seamless the Touch Bar customization process is.
