Here’s your best look yet at the next show from Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, 3 Body Problem, made in collaboration with True Blood writer Alexander Woo and based on Liu Cixin’s lauded sci-fi novel.

The trailer for the series starring Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Liam Cunningham (The Last Voyage of the Demeter), and Eiza González (Godzilla vs. Kong)—among a star-studded ensemble—was unveiled at global tech convention CES, currently being held in Las Vegas.

Watch the trailer for Netflix’s prophetic and grim-looking sci-fi thriller here:

Scientists begin dropping dead as they’re haunted by a numerical countdown and an investigation unfolds to discover what’s making them un-alive themselves. Benioff and Weiss dipping into the sci-fi sphere with another writer’s rich mythology is certainly intriguing; the show offers a glimpse at a dark future where the past marks humanity’s fate against an unknown enemy and a mysterious VR headset transports users to other realms of time.

“What we are hoping to do is to convey the experience—if not necessarily the exact details—of the novel onto the screen. What stayed, we hope, is the sense of wonderment and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species,” co-creator and executive producer Woo said (via Tudum.com) at Netflix’s CES presentation for the series’ VR experience, which he attended alongside Benioff and Weiss.

The official logline: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.” The ensemble includes Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong, and Jonathan Pryce.

Watch 3 Body Problem on Netflix on March 21.
