Facebook Videos Make Your Birthday Twice as Long

Facebook Videos Make Your Birthday Twice as Long

Facebook loves to compile all of the content you post online, and its latest supercuts will make it even easier to bask in the glory of your friends' love. According to TechCrunch, the social network will present users with Birthday Videos the day after their big day, with clips of all the well wishes their friends posted to their walls.

These 45-second reels open with a large birthday cake that lights up, spins and features several panels that open to reveal messages posted to your wall. As always, Facebook will give users the option to share Birthday Videos with their followers.

If Facebook didn't pick your favorite posts, you'll be given the option to check and uncheck all of the birthday messages you've received, so you can re-edit the video.

Maybe Facebook created this option because it saw how often users post a thank you note, acknowledging all of the "happy birthday" messages they receive, but the option to share the video seems even more self-centered than the average stuff you see on the social network. This isn't Facebook's first new video product of the year, as the company launched Friends Day videos that compile "special moments with your friends" on February 4th. Both of these videos play into the social network's 'video first' strategy that Mark Zuckerberg explained during the company's second quarter earnings call.
