Electric vehicle chargers to be rolled out
A total of 66 new electric vehicle charging points will be installed in Gloucestershire.
Forest of Dean District Council approved plans that the chargers can be installed at 12 of the car parks it owns.
Work will be completed by the end of January 2025.
The charge points will be owned by the council and maintained and operated under contract.
More than half of the £406,206 installation cost will come from the local authority.
Climate emergency cabinet member Chris McFarling, who presented a report at a council meeting on 16 May, said the council wants to offer electric charging to those who need to charge vehicles away from their properties.
"Carbon emissions in the transport sector are difficult to reduce, particularly in a rural authority where the use of the car is critical.
“Accelerating the transition to low-carbon electric vehicles is key if we are to stand a chance of meeting our net zero 2030 target," he added.
The chargers will be installed at car parks in - Rowendean in Cinderford, Newerne Street, Swan Road and Bream Road in Lydney, Heywood Road in Cinderford, Lewell Street in Newent, Grange Lane in Littledean, Newland Street in Coleford; Mitcheldean High Street; Drybrook High Street; Riverside in Redbrook and Butlers Mead in Blakeley.
