‘Digital by Human’: Women in Tech gathering in National Harbor for conference

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The theme for the upcoming Women in Tech DC conference is “digital by human.”

“I first launched the Women in Tech World Series in 2015 with our first event in London. We came to the U.S. in 2017, and then we’ve launched lots of different events all over the world,” said Michaela Jeffery-Morrison, founder and managing director of the Women in Tech World Series.

Jeffery-Morrison spoke to DC News Now from the United Kingdom, she says the DMV is a growing hotspot for women in the tech industry.

“Recent reports have named Washington, D.C. as one of the best cities, actually, for women in tech; as they make up over 30% of the tech workforce, which still isn’t high enough. But it is one of the highest in the U.S.,” she said.

The conference is being held on May 15, and May 16, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.

“It’s an exploration into the convergence of tech and human potential to create a sustainable and inclusive future for us all. So, I mean it’s going to encompass many different topics leadership, DEI, workforce strategies,” she said. “But of course, the dominating topic, as we all know, is the great impact of generative AI and its impact.”
