You already count on Costco to keep your toilet paper supply stocked — and now you can upgrade your actual toilet while you shop, too. I’m talking about seriously leveling up your bathroom with a smart toilet that has a self-cleaning bidet wand, a heated seat, and a built-in night light.

Now, it costs quite a bit more than your 36 rolls of toilet paper — like $1,000 more — but your return on investment will last you longer than your two-ply sheets ever could. I first came across the Kohler Jaro One-Piece Elongated Smart Toilet in a May 6 Reddit post that asked, “Would you buy a $1,200 toilet?” My initial response was, “Um … absolutely not.” But this isn’t any old toilet. According to the Kohler specifications sheet, the Jaro smart toilet touts an automatic deodorization system, a heated seat with adjustable temperature settings, automatic flushing, and a front and rear wash mode. While the toilet itself isn’t self-cleaning, the bidet wand automatically cleans itself before and after each use, according to Costco’s production description.

$1,399.99 (was $1,799.99) at Costco

For $1,199.99, you also get a lid that opens and closes automatically, an LED night light in the bowl for midnight bathroom trips, and “Comfort Height,” which is chair-height seating to get up more easily. Don’t forget about the warm air-drying capability and “dual-flushing capabilities that conserve water without compromising performance.”

If you’re interested in making your bathroom a little “smarter,” it appears you’ll get the best deal in stores. According to the photo in the Reddit post, the toilet costs $1,199.99 in Costco stores, and that includes an automatic $400 rebate. Online, it’s selling for $1,399.99 with the same rebate. Both online and in-store rebate deals last through May 31, 2024. After that, the toilet will cost $1,599.99 in Costco stores and $1,799.99 online.

$2,550 at Home Depot

Want your toilet to do a little more? For an extra grand, you can get a similar version of the smart toilet — Kohler’s Innate 1-Piece Dual Flush Elongated Smart Toilet — for $2,550 at The Home Depot. With the higher price tag, you get extra features like a completely self-cleaning toilet, not just the bidet wand, and bowl misting for “more effective flushing.” Basically, if you’re willing to pay enough, your toilet can do a lot more than just flush.
