Cool Car: Mini John Cooper Works Clubman ALL4

Cool Car: Mini John Cooper Works Clubman ALL4

(WHTM)– All Mini-Coopers are great handling little cars, but when you see the John Cooper Works logo, you’re in for a special treat.

The John Cooper Works versions handle like a go-cart, they’re fast, have huge brakes and wide-performance tires. All-wheel drive too.

A white roof has always been an option on Mini but check out this one. It starts as white but then fades to gray and in the back it turns black.

The interior is full of little touches to make you smile. Starting with a fat-rimmed steering wheel that’s very comfortable. The center video screen is cartoonish round but works well. Many switches look like they came from a military aircraft.

The automatic is an 8-speed. Terrific seats keep you in place during hard cornering. With a long-legged person up front, row two is cramped.

Split rear doors look cool. Even though it’s a wagon don’t expect lots of cargo space

The turbo 2.0 liter four has 301 horsepower. Plenty for such a small car.

Mini’s are built by BMW. With great handling, you’ll take curves faster than ever.

So for the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman ALL4, I say thumbs up to fun performance, great seats and interesting styling. Thumbs down to the tight row two and tight cargo space.

I averaged about 25 miles-per-gallon in the mini. The as-reviewed sticker $50,395.
