City continues e-bike to work program

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The City of Grand Junction officially opened applications Monday for residents to apply for the E-bike to Work Ownership Program.

The program first kicked off in 2023 when the city received a generous grant from the Colorado Energy Office to provide access to electric bikes to low and moderate-income residents who are employed.

To be eligible, you must be part of a household that is earning at or below 80% median income.

Henry Brown, the City of Grand Junction’s mobility planner explains how the city has fared since the inception of this program.

“In 2023, we had 40 participants who were residents or employees in the downtown and Horizon Drive business improvement district areas. This year we’ve opened up the program to be applicable citywide. So, anybody who is a resident or an employee within city limits is eligible to apply. We’re going to be picking 44 participants from the applicant pool.”

Applications are available online in both English and Spanish.
