Check Out the Insane Mansion the Creator of ‘Minecraft’ Just Bought for $70 Million

Markus “Notch” Persson has built some spectacular creations, but even the man who invented Minecraft would have a hard time replicating the insane Beverly Hills digs he just purchased for a record-breaking $70 million.

Spanning a hefty 23,000 square feet, Persson’s new mega-mansion sports eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, an epic infinity pool, an underground garage, and a movie theater. The house’s man cave is filled with pricey European roadsters, a Lucite pool table, and what appears to be a human-sized model of a Transformer. And that’s just for starters.

Called an “overwhelming sensory experience” in its real estate listing, the property also boasts a candy room (yeah, a room filled floor to ceiling with candy), a 50-foot curved door opening to the pool, separate bars for vodka and tequila, several 90-inch HD sets, a giant blue grenade statue, James Dean’s motorcycle, and fire extinguishers designed by Yves Saint Laurent. Because if you’re going to save your mega-mansion from burning to the ground, you want to look good doing it.

Earlier this year Microsoft purchased Mojang, the company that owned Minecraft, for $2.5 billion. Persson controlled more than 70 percent of Mojang. You do the math.

Even crazier than the house is the power couple Persson had to outbid to snag it: Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who went gaga for the house despite its initial asking price of (gulp) $85 million. A bidding war ensued, and when it comes to games, you don’t beat a gamer. The house eventually went to Persson for a bargain price of $70 mill. According to Persson’s reps, that still makes it the most ever paid for a home in Beverly Hills.

Check out more shots of Persson’s pad. And they say video games are a waste of time …
