Brightline West has announced updates to field investigation work locations in Southern California and Nevada within the proposed rail corridor within Interstate 15 right-of-way.

Brightline West’s all-electric, high-speed rail project will connect Las Vegas and Southern California, with a flagship station in Las Vegas and additional stations in Apple Valley, Hesperia and Rancho Cucamonga.

Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing and land surveying, Brightline West officials stated.

Work will take place primarily during daytime hours, with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short-term closures of freeway shoulders will be required.

Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits and other signage, Brightline officials said.

California

  • I-15 Point of Entry to Fort Irwin Road. Daytime borings are scheduled just south of the Point of Entry in the center median, at the Halloran Road interchange, and at the Fort Irwin Road interchange, Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-15 Bear Valley Road to Ranchero Road. Daytime borings are scheduled in the center median and off the southbound exterior shoulders, on Thursday, May 23, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-15 Oak Hill Road to SR-210 Interchange. Daytime borings are scheduled in the gore area of the I-15/SR-210 interchange, on Thursday, May 23, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Night closures are planned in the center median and shoulders, Monday, May 20, through Wednesday, May 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Nevada

  • I-15 median north of Primm, Nevada (milepost 5-12.5). Geotechnical boring and survey work from Monday, May 20 – Friday, May 31, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Brightline West

At speeds up to 200 miles per hour, trains will take passengers from Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga in about two hours, twice as fast as the normal drive time, company officials said.

In April, Brightline West officials and guests hammered yellow-colored rail spikes as part of its groundbreaking celebration for the nation's first high-speed rail system.

Brightline West’s goal is the completion of the rail system by summer 2028, in time for the summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the company said.
