Boston Dynamics Reveals New “Nightmare-Inducing” Robot

Boston Dynamics unveiled another human-like creation Monday-- and this one can move like an Olympic athlete.

In a video posted on Youtube, Boston Dynamics, which is owned by the “X” division of the parent company, introduced a 6.5-foot tall wheeled robot that can jump higher than the average NBA basketball player, and can travel at 9 miles per hour.

“This is the debut presentation of what I think will be a nightmare-inducing robot,” Marc Raibert, founder and CEO of Boston Dynamics, said earlier this month during the Abundance 360 summit.

The robot, dubbed Handle, uses electric power and can go up to 15 miles on one battery charge.

Additionally, the robot is able to navigate a variety of different terrains including snow, concrete, hills and staircases because it has both legs and wheels.

“Wheels are efficient on flat surfaces while legs can go almost anywhere: by combining wheels and legs Handle can have the best of both worlds,” Boston Dynamics’ YouTube description for the robot stated.
