UE's BOOM 3 is just a really good speaker. The only hesitation we have with this one is the vegan leather trim. It's not real leather, so we've found that it doesn't get damaged in the same way but would still advise for additional care. If it gets wet, towel it off, but other than that it'll be fine.

The SoundLink Micro is fully waterproof and has a strap you can use to hang it up.

In terms of what we didn't love, the battery life isn't that great for a speaker over $100. Just expect yourself to charge this one a bit more. Also, there were a few crevices on the backside we found a bit tricky. If it's directly getting wet, make sure you clean it thoroughly.

Moxie Bluetooth Speaker Showerhead

Kohler knows its way around a bathroom fixture. A speaker, not so much. So it leaned on Harman Kardon—the Rolls-Royce of high-fidelity audio speaker manufacturers—to supply that technology within its Moxie showerhead. It's the most literal take on "shower speaker" on this list, and you'll feel the playlist blast from atop like in a club—a real mood-swaying experience.

We loved the audio, and the fact that it's within shower head improves the sound performance. The music is directed at you, so everything comes in more clearly.

Our only gripe was with charging. It's tough, because every model on this list requires charging. But, this one you pull out of the shower head to charge, and that creates additional problems. First, it's just one more friction point—another thing to do. Second, it creates a new crevice to clean.

What to Look For In A Shower Speaker

Waterproof rating - Anything that is going to physically sit in your shower should be IP67 or IPX7 rated. At IP67—IPX7 is an unofficially tested version of the same criteria—a speaker is dustproof, and it can be submerged under one-meter of water for 30 minutes. You don't necessarily need that on a shower speaker. But it's the best waterproofing you can get, and it's so easy to find there's no reason not to get something that tough.

Size - To be a shower speaker, it has to be physically small. We gave preference to models with a clip mechanism of some sort, or others with a vertical orientation and small footprint.

Looks - Sounds weird, sure. But, we believe you should never buy anything that is ugly. We all need to be surrounded by more beauty, and the shower is not somewhere we take exception to that rule.
