Avoid ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Spoilers with the Force Block Chrome Extension

Yes, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is almost here! And as more and more lucky jerks get to see it before its nationwide release, the risk of stumbling across spoilers online grows exponentially.

But thanks to a new Google Chrome extension, you can continue to browse the Web without the fear of seeing any Star Wars spoilers. Spotted by Engadget, The Force Block is an extension that immediately blocks the content of any page with too many references to Star Wars.

Instead of a spoiler-filled screen, you’ll see a black background with a warning telling you that the site might contain hints about The Force Awakens. You’ll then have the option of either continuing or avoiding the page.

Of course, because the extension can’t determine the type of site you’re trying to view, you’ll end up getting false positives for things like news stories related to The Force Awakens. So if you install Force Block then come back to read this story on Yahoo Tech, it’ll likely be blocked.

Still, I’d much rather have to deal with a few false positives than completely disconnect from the Web in the days leading up to the movie, like some pre-Internet savage.
