Apple’s app that teaches coding to kids comes out today

Thinking of getting your kid into coding? Well, Apple’s got an app for that.

It’s called Swift Playgrounds, and it will teach children to code on the iPad.

By guiding a character called Byte to collect gems you can control how he moves by using Swift code.

Coding is made simple by dragging a command from the bottom of the screen and dropping it into the coding space on the left.

Apple included Swift Playgrounds at its keynote presentation in San Francisco as part of its big education initiative and will make it available for free in the App

Store starting today.
