Apple Stores Will Soon Allow You To Trade In Broken Phones

Good news for clumsy iPhone owners - Apple will soon allow you to trade in handsets with cracked screens.

Sources within Apple said that Apple Stores will soon give trade-in credit for iPhone 5S, 6 and 6S models with damaged screens, broken buttons and cameras.

The scheme is to roll out in America this week, sources told 9to5Mac - along with a new system for installing screen protectors in Apple Stores.

There are said to be limitations on what Apple considers ‘acceptable’ damage, but Apple is keen to push customers towards buying new phones, rather than repairing screens.

Apple is said to be offering $50 (£35) trade-in credit for a broken iPhone 5S and up to $250 (£172) for the latest 6S models.

Apple Stores will also start to offer screen protector installation in store this week, the report suggested.

Previously, Apple staff would refuse to install screen protectors - but will now do so using machines in-store, 9to5Mac reported.
