Apple Just Released Another App You Can't Delete from Your Phone

As part of its Watch extravaganza on Monday, Apple released iOS 8.2, the newest version of iOS, to the public.

The update comes with improvements to the Health app; it makes your Music and Mail apps more stable; and it fixes several bugs from the previous version of iOS.

It will also add an Apple Watch app to your iPhone that you cannot delete, even if you don’t own an Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch app is necessary, of course, for Apple Watch owners, who must sync their watches with an Apple device to get notifications and use several of the features of the new gadget.

For non-owners, however, an Apple Watch app is pretty useless. As in, completely and totally without use, function, or purpose.

The Apple Watch app joins Stocks, Newsstand, Game Center, and Reminders as Apple-made apps that cannot be deleted from your device. Many before me have bemoaned Apple’s policy on pre-installed apps; I have a little folder called “Apple” that I stash all of these un-deleteable apps into, so that they don’t clog up too much room. Have fun in there, ya’ll!
