Apple increases the storage capacity on existing iPads, effectively cutting prices
Apple managed to pack its two-hour event on Wednesday full of exciting announcements, but the company still wasn't able to fit everything into the keynote address. That's why we're just now learning that the iPad lineup received a minor refresh of its own, increasing the storage options to line up with those of the iPhone 7.

One of the most welcome reveals at Apple's event on Wednesday was the new standard storage options for the iPhone 7. Apple has done away with the 16GB model altogether, replacing the three previous tiers with 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models instead. It turns out that the iPad will be receiving the same treatment.
On Apple's site, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro now costs $599 for the 32GB model, $699 for the 128GB model and $799 for the 256GB model. Similarly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro costs $799/$899/$999 for the same three storage sizes.
Although they didn't receive a 256GB tier, both the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 4 are available for $399 for a 32GB model and $499 for a 128GB model. Rounding out the collection, a 32GB iPad mini 2 will run you just $269.
It looks like we aren't getting any fresh iPads until next year, but if you're desperate to get your hands on an Apple tablet soon, they're all better value propositions today than they were less than 24 hours ago.
