Apple Built a Tool to Remove That U2 Album from Your iPhone

Apple has released an official tool to make Bono gone-o.
The company has dedicated an entire support site that shows iTunes users how to remove U2’s new album, “Songs of Innocence,” from their libraries, 9to5Mac reports.
As you may recall, last week the company announced that it was giving away the Irish dad rock group U2’s new album to all 500 million of its iTunes customers. CEO Tim Cook, who broke the news alongside the group’s lead singer at Apple’s Sept. 9 event, declared it “the largest album release of all time.” Within five seconds, the album automatically loaded into every single iTunes user’s library. The deal was rumored to have cost Apple around $100 million, according to The New York Times.
But soon afterward, many of the 500 million iTunes users who received this “gift” wondered aloud on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook how they’d be able to promptly return it. A Twitter user with the handle @ohmybelieber94, for instance took to the the network to directly confront the band about the incident, asking “@U2 why the f*ck is your album on my phone #dont.”

Now, apparently unable to ignore the issue any longer, Apple finally released its own company-approved option for doing the deed. I can’t think of any digital walk of shame worse than spending $100 million on a gift, confusing and angering your customers with said gift, and then being forced to release instructions on how to remove it.
Here’s how:
Go to http://itunes.com/soi-remove. This will launch your iTunes Application.
Click Remove Album.
Sign in with the Apple ID and password you use to buy from the iTunes Store.
You’ll see a confirmation message that the album has been removed from your account.
That’s it! Now if only you could regift it …
