74 brand new emoji could hit your iPhone in iOS 10 – here’s the full list

If you thought the middle finger emoji was a welcome addition to your iPhone emoji game, then you should know that even more characters may be coming soon to your favorite chat app. As many as 74 new emoji are included in the updated Unicode 9 emoji set, which was recently accepted by the Unicode Consortium.

The new emoji are based on popular request and include gender-matching pairs as well as compatibility with emoticons in existing platforms. The 74 new proposals have already been accepted by the Unicode Technical Committee. A final determination will be made for the ones to be added to Unicode 9.0, which is set for release in June 2016. That means iOS 10 will probably include these new emoji once it becomes available to the public this coming September.
