7 wedding apps that will make planning your big day a whole lot easier

Your wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life, but actually planning it can make you want to pull your hair out. 

Lucky for us, we live in a time of smart phones and we all know there's an app for just about anything. So if you are having trouble organizing your big day, we've compiled a list of the best weddings apps to make the process as painless as possible. 

1. WeddingHappy 

OK, so where do you even start? This free iOS app is great if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing. Just put in your anticipated wedding date, and WeddingHappy will design a schedule complete with a checklist and suggested due dates. 

This app has other great features including a wedding day countdown, payment tracking, a spending summary, and vendor management. The set up is super simple, and you don't need wifi to use the majority of the app — that means you can get your planning done on the subway or on a plane ride.

2. Wedding Planner by The Knot 

Another one-stop shop for planning, this app features a checklist, countdown, budgeter, guest list manager, and options to explore venues and contact vendors. It also syncs automatically with all your devices, so you can keep planning wherever you are. It's free for both iOS and Android

3. Appy Couple

It may have a very punny name, but it's essential for all things related to your guests. Appy Couple is the one stop shop to manage your guest list, send invitations, collect RSVPs, and share your event's itinerary. Guests can read your story, book their travel, direct message you with questions, and share photos with other guests after the wedding.

To get started, choose one of their many lovely designs to work as your e-stationary. (Though don't stress, you can always change it at any time.) Does painstakingly registering for china and flatware and sheets sound exhausting? This free app (available for both iOS and Android) can help you get what you really want: cash! 

Described as "the world's favorite universal wedding registry," this app is the contemporary way to let your friends and family know you're really prefer money over material possessions. You can us Honeyfund to create a registry for your honeymoon, obviously. But you can also stockpile dough for a down payment on a house, charitable donations, and more. It also features customizable design options for that personal touch.

5. Azazie

If getting gussied up to go to a bridal boutique where strangers give you their unsolicited opinions sounds like absolute torture, you are not alone. Fortunately, Azazie (free for iOS and Android) has made finding the perfect dress a comfortable experience. You can customize dresses to your specifications, and get a sample mailed to try on in the comfort of your own home. If you do want your friends and family to weigh in, the showroom feature lets you invite your pals to chat and vote on their favorite looks.

6. Wedding Spot

You want your wedding location to be Instagram worthy, even if you don't want to spend days searching for the perfect rustic outdoor spot or loft with a view of the Manhattan skyline. Enter Wedding Spot: a super simple iOS app that lets you see every option available to you. This free app features over 10,000 venues, and you can narrow that down based on your budget, location, style, and guest count. 

If you're a millennial who hates making phone calls (same), fear not because you can book an appointment to tour the venue directly in the app. You can also receive access to exclusive deals and discounts.

7. Pinterest 

All these apps are great, but it'll be hard to make the best use of them if you don't have a basic idea of what color scheme, theme, flowers, and cake you want. To figure out what you're going for, you need to get yourself on Pinterest — the treasure trove of #inspiration.

There are free apps for both Android and iOS. Just search "wedding ideas" to browse through countless other people's photos. (Don't forget to pin the ones you like best to refer to later.) Within this tab you can drill down by specifying things like "on a budget" or "summer." Before you know it you'll have a dream board for your dream wedding.
