60 rockets to launch in Central Texas as part of student STEM program

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) — Students from 18 high schools will show off their rocket science skills with launches May 2-4.

Sixty rockets will blast off during the three-day stretch near Fredericksburg and Stonewall. Students designed and created the rockets through the SystemsGo STEM education program, per a release.

Schools participating in the launches include Fredericksburg, Buinger CTE, Brazoswood, Union Grove, Kingwood, Harleton, Victoria East, Hamilton, Georgetown, Gary, Roosevelt, Odyssey Academy, Johnson, Fabens, Atascocita, London, Alamo Heights and Canon City, Colorado.

Rockets will launch during daylight hours each day, per the release. The event is free for the public to attend, but attendees must sign a waiver acknowledging they’re on a test site.

The events will be held at Segner Ranch, located at 2187 Double Horn Road in Fredericksburg.

Should there be inclement weather, contingency days are scheduled the day immediately following the site’s last scheduled launch date. Those interested in watching from home can find a livestream of the launches online.
