4-Year-Old Expelled from Preschool over Mom’s Facebook Rant

A Florida preschool is facing backlash from a mother of a 4-year-old after her son was expelled because they were mad about a post she made on Facebook.

Ashley Habat wasn’t thrilled that the school didn’t give her enough time to prep her son Will for picture day, reports a Jacksonville television station.

Understandably, she ranted about the school on her personal Facebook page, writing, “Why is it that every single day there is something new I dislike about Will’s School? Are my standards really too high or are people working in the education field really just that ignorant?”

Although this is a case of free speech, she probably shouldn’t have tagged the school in her rant. The next day, the school booted Will, much to her dismay. Habat said she doesn’t have any regrets over the post; she’s mad the school decided to punish her son about something she said.

“They just felt like we weren’t the right fit…and that they didn’t want him as a student anymore,” she said. “He had done nothing wrong.”

For its part, the school said in the dismissal letter that the relationship with them didn’t “get off to a very good start.” They added that her post was “consistent with sowing discord, which is spoken of in the handbook you signed.”

The school didn’t comment publicly to News4Jax. Hopefully it’s not too late for li’l Will to get in somewhere else.
