39th annual Space Symposium lands in Colorado Springs

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The global space community has once again ‘landed’ in Colorado Springs for its 39th annual event at the Broadmoor.

“We’ve been coming to the space symposium for several years now, has a really nice position here where we brought the science on the sphere so everybody can see it as they come into the conference on day one,” said Rafael De Ameller, the Lead NOAA Environmental Visualization.

The Space Symposium will allow thousands of people to seamlessly engage with new ideas, both in-person and virtually.

“We launched a new course which we’re debuting, and people can contribute while they’re here talking about challenges between the United States and China,” said Christopher Allen, co-founder of Nova Space.

The conference aims to bring together worldwide aerospace leaders and industry experts for a week of networking and collaboration.

“Our whole mission is about the people of space,” said Allen.

Allen wants to create educational opportunities and help fill positions in the industry.

“In North America alone, there are at least 20,000 open positions looking for people with 5 to 7 years worth of space experience,” said Allen.

More than 12,000 guests from more than 40 countries will be in Colorado Springs this week, showing off more than 200 exhibits, each offering something unique to the science community.

“So they’re tracking all the satellites, all the rocket bodies, all the debris that is orbiting the Earth right now. And what they’re doing is they’re helping space operators and others be able to avoid all that space trash,” said De Ameller.

It’s also an opportunity for experts to showcase some of the most advanced technologies in use.

“So, the science on the sphere, there’s several sciences on the spheres installed all around the world and all of them have access to our NOAA data. So, anybody anywhere around the world where there’s a sphere, they can show real time imagery of the earth, of the atmosphere, of the weather, all these spaces,” said De Ameller.
