3 crazy and weird products Samsung will unveil at CES 2016
CES may not be as relevant as it used to be, but don’t tell that to Samsung. With CES 2016 slated to kick off on January 6, Samsung reps will make the trek out to Las Vegas where they’ll off three brand new products that were developed at the company’s Creative Lab (C-Lab). And ‘creative’ is the operative word here because these products are decidedly on the wacky end of the spectrum.

Let’s get started.
1. A smartbelt
First up we have the WELT, a belt with built-in health tracking features. According to Samsung, the WELT is able to record a user’s waist size, the number of steps taken per day, and even tally the number of hours a user spends sitting down. After each day of use, the WELT can send off this data to an accompanying smartwatch for review and analysis. What’s more, Samsung notes that the app can help provide users with a “a range of personalized healthcare and weight management plans.”
As far as wearable technologies go, aesthetically speaking, the WELT isn’t half bad.
2. VR Motion Controller
With mobile VR devices seemingly poised to burst into the mainstream sooner rather than later, it’s no surprise that the folks over at Samsung’s C-Lab came up with a hand-motion controller for VR devices.
“The ability to intuitively control the game or content just by using their hands provides consumers with a much deeper level of mobile VR immersion,” Samsung writes in a press release.
3. TipTalk
And last, and certainly least, Samsung plans to unveil a product it calls TipTalk. As far as we can tell, TipTalk is a band users can wear on their wrists which enables users to “listen to the sound from their smart devices” without having to don a headset or headphones.
The TipTalk in action works when a user simply puts their finger up to their ear. In turn, Samsung notes that calls become clearer and crisper, even in environments with overwhelming background noise.
Of course, it’s not going to be all fun and games for Samsung at CES this year. We can also expect the South Korean tech giant to take the wraps off of number of more traditional products, including an incredibly thin and light Ultrabook with brand new Skylake processors. And when we say light, we’re talking about a 13.3-inch notebook that checks in at just 1.9 pounds and 13 mm thick.
