Here's How Much the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 CostsMercedes-AMG

Four-cylinder power is slowly becoming the standard among modern Mercedes-AMG products. From the entry-level GLA and CLA-series models to the all-new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, the hand-built, 2.0-liter AMG M139l inline-four engine is a staple among the Affalterbach-built lineup, and for good reason.

With 671 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque, the potency of such a small displacement motor is astonishing, even if it is aided by a two-speed, 201 hp electric motor on its rear axle and a 400-volt, 6.1-kWh battery pack. Plus, Mercedes-AMG has implemented its Formula 1 turbocharging technology here, using an electric motor to spin the compressor wheel before exhaust gasses reach it. Such strong power figures put the C 63 S E Performance in company with BMW's M8, even if the pricing differential is tens of thousands of dollars.

Offered in two trim levels, Standard or Pinnacle, Mercedes announced on Wednesday that the base model version will start at $85,050 and includes Nappa leather trim, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, and a 64-color ambient lighting system. Moving up to the Pinnacle trim will run you $87,100, adding on a head-up display, additional lighting and navigation features, plus a panorama roof.

For our money, we'd opt for the base model, as it comes equipped with AMG Ride Control suspension, adaptive damping, 2.5 degrees of active rear-axle steering, and a proprietary high-performance composite brake system. AMG has even included dynamic engine mounts on the C 63 S E Performance to reduce drivetrain losses and improve comfort.

Inside the new C63, AMG sport seats upholstered in MB-Tex and microfiber are standard fare, though five different Nappa leather options are also available. Sportier, AMG performance seats can also be fitted for those driving on the aggressive side. A 12.3-inch driver display and 11.9-inch central multimedia display match up with the majority of the AMG lineup.

By size, price, and performance, AMG's direct competitors are BMW's M3 Competition and Cadillac's CT5-V Blackwing, though the power and price differences seem to grow by the year. Rated at 503 horsepower for 2024, BMW's $81,195 M3 Competition is down 168 hp— significantly less power than the Mercedes inline-four—from Munich's twin-turbocharged inline-six. As for the $87,090 Caddy, GM's commitment to V-8 power is admirable, especially when it comes in supercharged, 668 hp form.
