Volkswagen’s “The Force” advert from 2011 is the most shared Super Bowl advert of all time, according to data from video ad tech company Unruly.

The Volkswagen ad has been shared 5.3 million times since its launch, according to Unruly’s analytics system, which counts the number of shares across Facebook, Twitter, and on blogs.

Of course many of our favorite Super Bowl ads, like Apple’s 1984 commercial and Budweiser’s “Wassup” video, have not made it onto the list. The broadcast of many iconic Super Bowl ads pre-dated social platforms like Facebook and Twitter going mainstream.
