After 20 years of battling body-confidence demons and believing bikinis weren’t for her, Jazzmyne Jay finally came to the realization that it was time to challenge those ridiculous “bikini body” standards. So she went out and bought the most badass bikini she could find, wore it to the beach, and had a great day.

Taking to Instagram to share a picture of the moment, she explained why it was such a big deal for her.

“For the past 20 years, I’ve told myself I am not ‘good enough’ to wear a bikini to the beach,” she wrote. “I went out and wore this because I don’t have to limit myself to just plus-size high-waist swimsuits. This is me, in a bikini, and I f***ing love it.”

And she wasn’t the only one that loved it. The picture received more than 8,000 likes and almost a thousand comments from people praising her newfound body confidence.

“DAMN GIRL WORK IT! You look beautiful af and I love your self-confidence. You should wear bikinis more,” one fan wrote.

“Thank you so much for being brave, beautiful, and confident. I’m currently battling with weight issues and body-image issues. You’re like a hero to me right now. Kudos to you!” said another.

Some women were hoping to follow in Jay’s footsteps by donning a bikini for the first time too.

“This is awesome! I feel the exact same way! I have never worn a bikini in my life and am terrified to do so. So I praise you for being brave!”

“I hope more people can learn to accept and love themselves for who they are. You are wonderful and don’t let anyone get you down, ever,” added another woman.

And the overwhelmingly positive response has inspired Jay to have the confidence to tackle all kinds of swimsuits.

“I really want to do this because I see other women, bigger than me, wearing them and I’m like, ‘You go, girl,’” she said.

“I want to work on being the most confident version of myself.”
