The news that U.S. travelers might soon need a visa to visit Europe isn’t very encouraging. But the idea of cozying up in a London pub on New Year’s Eve, or strolling festive Christmas fairs in Spain? That is.
It's not just Monday daydreaming. If you move quickly, that could actually be your holiday itinerary: Scott Keyes of Scott's Cheap Flights just uncovered round-trip deals from U.S. cities like Boston, New York, and Miami to European hubs like Barcelona, London, and Milan in the high $300s and low $400s. The fares are scattered throughout the spring, but most notably hold from August through January and include travel over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. A peak winter trip of this stature usually comes with a price tag of about $1,000, and flight deals that include these holidays are few and far between.
Think about how all of that extra savings could be spent: on a timeless performance of The Nutcracker at London’s Royal Opera House; window shopping in Paris; or on scoring even more deals on a quieter and cooler winter trip to Italy.
Airlines serving up the hot holiday fares include Air France, Delta, United, Air Canada, TAP Portugal, and KLM, one of the best airlines in the world, according to our 2016 Readers' Choice Awards survey. Keyes suspects the fares will only last a few days, so if you're interested, you'd better act fast.
To book: Use the Google Flights calendar to plug in your departure city and dates. Fares will vary depending on where you’re originating and where you’re headed, but the ones in green are the cheapest. All of the flights in this deal have a maximum of one stop, but if you’re looking for non-stop (Keyes notes there are some options to Barcelona and Madrid), change the filter settings on your search from “up to one stop” to “non-stop.”
