Justin Bieber Wins When It Comes to Celebrity Hair Competitions

This week, an anonymous bidder in Arizona paid $37,000 for Willie Nelson’s auburn braids during an auction of the Waylons Jennings estate; and strangely, they were a gift from the singer to his fellow country crooner in honor of Jennings’ sobriety. But this isn’t the first time a handful of A-list locks went for record prices. Strands from Mick Jagger’s well-coiffed head pulled in $6,000 not too long ago and the shorn remnants of Elvis Presley’s famous army buzz cut in 1958 were snatched up in 2009 for $15,000. Of course it was Justin Bieber who broke the vintage hair record when he got $41,668 for his baby blond locks on the Ellen Degeneres show in 2011. Sure it was for good cause — the money went to a animal rescue organization — but for now, we’ll stick to hair extensions.
