This is why Jessica Simpson decided not to get a breast reduction

Music and fashion icon Jessica Simpson recently opened up about why, after a lot of thinking, she decided not to get a breast reduction after all. Much of the decision was motivated by the birth of her two children, an event that encouraged her to love her body the way it is.

The cover star told Women’s Health (via People) about how much she thought over the decision, and what ultimately pushed her to say no.

“My boobs just have their own life. They have a way of making themselves present.”

Many women with ~lively~ boobs struggle a lot with everything from back pain, to society’s hypersexualization of boobs, to fighting a lack of confidence that can happen as a result of both.

“I thought I was going to get a breast reduction, but after having kids, I look at myself and I’m like, you know what, my boobs are actually really big, but I like how they are.”

Simpson clearly took the decision to get (or not get) a breast reduction very seriously. It’s a big deal in a society that shames women for larger boobs for getting the surgery, but also shames them if they decide against it. Only we can decide what works and doesn’t work for our bodies, and it’s up to us and no one else.
