Who isn't guilty of it? Standing in front of the mirror, pinching and poking the parts of our bodies we're not psyched about with a disappointed glare as the negative thoughts fill our heads. "I wish my belly was flatter," or "my thighs are lumpy," or "my arms are so thick." Why do we do this to ourselves?
Instagrammer Natalie read a recent tweet posted by @bodyposipanda_ that said, "Bopo challenge: only touch your body with kindness today! No pulling/poking/grabbing, just soft strokes & nice words. You're doing great 💜" Who knew a little tweet could be so life-changing? Natalie took on the challenge and tried hard to be kinder to her body. Instead of pinching and grabbing, "Instead of pinching and grabbing, I'm patting. 'Hi, squish. You're here. And that's okay.'"
She's adopted a new saying, "pats and rubs only." Natalie encourages everyone, "Instead of wishing it wasn't there, give it a lil pat and acknowledge it. It's a part of you. Your body has gotten you through everything up until this point and it deserves to be loved. There's no time like the present to start trying to rebuild your relationship with your body." This is a body-positive movement we can all get behind!
